Terms of service.
1. Scope of Services
Inner Light Therapy provides online counseling, life coaching, workshops, and support services for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and personal development. These services are not a substitute for emergency care, psychiatric diagnosis, or medical treatment.
2. Qualifications
Services are provided by Melissa Flowers, a certified life coach and pre-licensed counselor, currently a student member of the ACCT, CCPA, and QCA. All services are delivered through a trauma-informed, evidence-based, and client-centered approach.
3. Confidentiality
All sessions are confidential and comply with ethical guidelines and professional standards. Information shared during sessions will not be disclosed without your written consent, except where required by law (e.g., risk of harm to self or others, abuse, or court order).
4. Online Services & Limitations
Sessions are conducted online via secure video platforms. While this provides greater access, please note that online counseling may not be suitable for crisis situations. Clients must be physically located in a region where services are legally permitted.
5. Session Policies
Length: Sessions are typically 50 or 90 minutes.
Rescheduling/Cancellations: A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a full session fee.
Lateness: If you are more than 15 minutes late, the session may be cancelled and charged as a missed appointment.
6. Fees & Payments
Payment is due prior to or immediately following each session via approved methods (e.g., e-transfer).
Sliding scale options may be available on request, based on income and need.
Package discounts must be used within 6 months of purchase.
7. Boundaries & Ethics
Melissa does not provide emergency services, prescribe medication, or engage in dual relationships (e.g., friendships or business dealings with clients).
Communication outside of session is limited to scheduling, check-ins, or sharing therapeutic resources.
Inner Light Therapy reserves the right to refer clients to other professionals if the services fall outside the scope of practice or ethical boundaries.
8. Crisis Support
If you are in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please contact your local crisis center, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room. In Canada, you can also contact Talk Suicide Canada at 1-833-456-4566.
